How the Bullion Melt Value Calculator works

Gross grams = weight per item × unit conversion × item count
Total gross troy ounces = gross grams ÷ 31.1034768
Fine troy ounces = gross troy ounces × fineness percentage ÷ 100
Entered melt value = fine troy ounces × entered price per fine troy ounce

Fineness is applied once to gross metal weight. A product specification that already states fine-metal content should not be discounted by the same fineness again.

Worked example from the audited fixture

One entered silver item weighs 10 troy ounces and is 99.9% fine. It therefore contains 9.99 fine troy ounces, or 310.7237 g of fine silver.

At an entered USD 30 per-troy-ounce price reference, the deterministic melt-value result is 9.99 × USD 30 = USD 299.70. That amount is not a dealer bid, appraisal or guaranteed sale value.
