Contribution-by-contribution audit
Each row shows its own ounces and the cumulative all-in average after that row.
On smaller screens, scroll this table horizontally; the page itself remains contained.
| Row | Date | Contribution | Silver price / oz | Entered cost | Metal spend | Cash outlay | Silver acquired | Row all-in / oz | Cumulative silver | Cumulative all-in / oz | Ounce share |

Entered-current-price sensitivity
Five fixed multipliers are applied to the current price you entered.
The 75%, 90%, 100%, 110% and 125% rows are arithmetic scenarios, not silver-price forecasts.

How the Silver DCA Calculator works
Troy ounces = metal spend ÷ entered silver price per troy ounce
Metal-only weighted price = total metal spend ÷ total troy ounces
All-in average cost = total cash outlay ÷ total troy ounces
Entered-current value = total troy ounces × entered current price
Equal cash amounts are labelled equal-cash. Different amounts still calculate, but the result is labelled variable-cash rather than silently being presented as standard dollar-cost averaging.
Worked example from the audited fixture
Three dated USD 300 contributions buy silver at entered prices of USD 30, USD 25 and USD 35 per troy ounce. Each row adds USD 3 of purchase cost. Total silver is 30.5714285714 oz, total cash outlay is USD 909, metal-only weighted price is USD 29.44/oz and all-in average cost is USD 29.73/oz.
At the entered USD 32 current price, holding value is USD 978.29 and the difference from outlay is +USD 69.29, or +7.6222%. The two entered gaps are 31 and 30 days; those dates are evidence, not a schedule-quality verdict.
Use and limitations
- Use troy ounces and a per-troy-ounce silver price; do not mix grams, coins, bar count or gross package weight.
- Enter premiums, commissions, shipping or other acquisition costs once. Do not duplicate a cost already embedded in the entered silver price.
- The currency field is only a label. Convert mixed-currency records before entering them.
- Dates are optional schedule evidence. The tool does not infer holidays, settlement dates or missing contributions.
- No market history, live quote, historical return, storage cost, insurance cost, spread, tax lot or disposal rule is supplied.
- DCA does not guarantee a lower average cost, profit or protection from loss.
Frequently asked questions
- Each row divides entered silver spend by its entered per-troy-ounce price. Total metal spend divided by total acquired troy ounces gives the weighted metal-only average.
- It is total entered cash outlay divided by acquired troy ounces. Entered premiums or fees add cash without adding silver, so all-in cost can exceed the metal-only weighted price.
- A simple mean gives every entered price equal weight. The weighted result reflects how many troy ounces each cash contribution actually acquired.
- No. Leave all dates blank for an undated calculation. If you use dates, every row needs one and the rows must be in strictly increasing date order.
- It accepts four columns with the exact header date, contribution, price_per_troy_ounce, extra_cost. A maximum of 24 data rows is supported.
- They multiply your entered current price by 75%, 90%, 100%, 110% and 125% and revalue the same ounces. They are mechanical cases, not forecasts.
- No. Tax treatment can depend on jurisdiction, product, fees, disposal method and recordkeeping. This page only reconciles the entered acquisition arithmetic.
- No. Results depend on future prices and costs. Repeated purchases do not remove market risk or guarantee that DCA will beat another purchase schedule.
